8Devices is a company engaged in development, manufacturing and sales of unique design and functionality electronic equipment. Many years of expertise in hardware engineering and software design allows us to deliver exceptional quality products with the best price performance and quick time to market approach. 8Devices develop telecommunications equipment and IoT solutions for customers in all continents except Antarctica and supply their solutions to the automotive, aerospace and many other industries.
Story
How it started: 8Devices was founded in 2011 by Jonas Sabaliauskas Sr. and Jonas Sabaliauskas Jr. Since the core team of 8Devices had extensive experience while working with foreign investments and electronic manufacturers, the founding vision was clear - 8Devices is going to be independent.
At that time, their first product, the Carambola Wi-Fi module, came from the great enthusiasm of engineers for electronics and their work. This product did not attract too much interest, but not long after, the Wi-Fi enabled, embedded Linux SoM module Carambola 2 appeared, the key feature of Carambola 2 was low power consumption (also it had an integrated Qualcomm chip) and attracted the attention of both, advanced hobbyists and other serious foreign manufacturers.
One of the largest electronics distributors in Europe - CODICO GmbH - showed great interest in 8Devices activities. According to them, at that time, a large number of business customers in CODICO circles were using Carambola 2, so the team caught their attention and began to cooperate. In 2016 8Devices became an official Qualcomm ADC (authorized design center). This allowed them to receive technical support, reference designs directly from Qualcomm, which is one of the global leaders in developing communication technologies.
How it is going: Today 8Devices has several product lines in its portfolio. Every year the 8Devices team raises the quality bar higher and higher - the company invests in new equipment and process automation. 8Devices even has a dedicated RnD unit that works on post-production QA and test robot development. Over the years the demand for their products has significantly increased.
8Devices is one of the several companies in Lithuania that develops products from A to Z - from product development to manufacturing at our own manufacturing facility. Therefore, the team is happy with this not particularly common combination and the know-how.
